That’s right: if an article from a website you don’t know runs a headline that claims something extremely unlikely happened to some well-known person but then doesn’t even mention the name in the headline your bullshit detector should be pegged out at maximum strength and you ought to be very cautious about liking or sharing the story without first vetting it very thoroughly.
Which other sites have the news? Are there any results in Google when you search for the key facts? Does the website that ran the story look legit otherwise?
If you have any doubts about the answer to any of these questions, wait a moment before sharing the article. You won’t look like a fool later if it turns out the story wasn’t true.
