SCAMMERS Are Flooding Facebook With Fake Polls. Do you support this?

Ruthless foreign websites are preying on unsuspecting internet users by luring them with fake polls to adware-infested websites that might harm your computer.

Have you ever seen a post on Facebook that asks you if you support or agree with something?  Have you liked or shared such a post without actually visiting the website?

STOP DOING THAT!

All these sites are trying to do is make money off unsuspecting visitors by swamping them with a deluge of advertising of a very dubious nature: porn, get-rich-quick scams, fake meds, dubious cures for various ailments…  Sometimes they even trick visitors into installing malicious software that will slow down your computer or send your private data to foreign hackers.

Many of these kinds of posts being shared on Facebook don’t even lead to an actual poll: there simply is nothing but ads when you click trough to these sites.

Worse: if you like or share these posts (even without clicking through) or if you leave a comment on them it makes Facebook think you like this kind of content so their algorithm will show you more of it.  Also, Facebook will tell your friends you liked the post, making it more likely they will fall victim to these scammers too.

HOW TO FIGHT BACK:

  • Don’t share a poll without first checking out the site.
  • Does it look legit?  Or does it look scammy?
  • Does it have way too many ads on it?

If you have your doubts about any of these things, don’t share, don’t like, don’t click!
